New Feature(s)

My blog now has a little feature where you can subscribe to the comments of a single entry. Because I know you’re all dying to follow the conversation around here. ^_~

I like the feature, though. I use it on other blogs, when it’s offered. Sometimes I ask a question in the comments, or want to see how the author responds to my comment, but I’m just not interested in subscribing the the RSS Comments Feed because I don’t care to read every comment they receive. I only care about ones relevant to posts I care enough about to comment on. ^_^

I’m also considering requiring registration for reading and/or commenting. Gord pulled it off without a hitch. While there’s no one in particular I’m trying to avoid, now that I’m working on a fully public blog, I’d like to make sure my private blog stays private.

  1. Oh right, I forgot about that.

I locked my LJ because a competitor found my LJ and post shit about me, and I didn’t need that, nor did I want future customers to scout out my LJ and read my personal stuff and rants because it’s not professional.

Now that I’m starting a new public website, the same goes for RaspberryPaws here. This site was never intended for the public, and on the chance that people start searching for me I don’t want them to read what’s here. The only reason I didn’t make it mandatory to register when I started it was because I wasn’t sure if you guys would, and I didn’t want you all to stop reading my blog.

  2. While I was originally one of those who opposed having to register, I believe that the internet (at least for me) is a very different place than it was 4 years ago. Between google’s amazing ability to find one’s page, the new trend for prospective employers to bother ‘googling’ you, and robots and scammers reading sites, there’s a lot of good reasons to require registration.
Not to mention the number of enemies some of us begin to acquire by this age…
